Sewage
Treatment Plant
Kildare
Chamber of Commerce has kept the pressure on Kildare Co.
Co. and the Department of Environment to fulfil their promise
to deliver the upgrade to the waste water treatment plant
for Kildare Town. A delegation of chamber representatives
met with Kildare County Council officials on 23rd January
and subsequently met with Minister Dick Roche 17th February.
The following week An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern’s announcement
of funding for the €21m project was quickly followed
by departmental approval of Kildare County Council’s
proposal of delivery.
Through the Chamber’s weekly contact with Kildare
Co. Co. on this issue and through local representation with
the department of environment, the proposed delivery date
of the upgrade, by 3rd quarter 2009, now looks more feasible.
Pay
Parking
Installation
of parking meters and associated road marking works has
taken place in Kildare Town in preparation for the introduction
of Pay-Parking during the month of March. There will be
a six month probation period after which time the system
will be reviewed and possibly extended to other parts of
the town.
